Purpose of the Job: 

To conduct high-quality research and teach undergraduate, postgraduate and research students as appropriate. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Prepares lectures and delivers them to undergraduate and postgraduate students. 
  • Sets tests, examinations and coursework. 
  • Administers and invigilates tests and examinations. 
  • Marks tests, coursework and examination scripts, compiles and grades examination results. 
  • Guides and advises students on their academic performance. 
  • Attends to students' non-academic challenges and refers those that need further counselling and guidance. 
  • Conducts research and disseminates research findings through conferences, seminars, and publications. 
  • Supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking research projects. 
  • Conducts seminars and tutorials. 
  • Carries out official administrative duties in the department as directed by the Head of Department. 
  • Contributes to the University and wider society through community service. 

Person Specification: 

  • Should have an earned PhD or Master's degree on the PhD track in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution. 
  • Should have a Master of Medicine in Anatomy or Surgery from a recognized institution. 
  • Should have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) from a recognized institution with a minimum CGPA of 3.8. 
  • Must have evidence of registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council at the time of application. 
  • Should have proven academic ability in research, publication, and teaching. 
  • Should be computer literate. 
  • Should have a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience at a recognized academic institution of higher learning. 
  • Should have at least three (3) scholarly publications in the area of specialization.
